GMA backs Mindanao ICT gab in Oro

SUPPORTING the thrust of the government to open up more cyber-corridors and promoting the establishment of business process outsourcing opportunities in Mindanao, the 5th Mindanao ICT Congress gets the support of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The President's Memorandum Circular 113, which was signed on September 8, authorized all information and communication technology (ICT) professionals in government offices to attend the 5th Mindanao Information & Communications Technology Congress slated here in Cagayan de Oro City on September 20 to 22.

"This is a very good development for the organizers of the Congress," said Oro Chamber president and congress host Ruben A. Vegafria. "The memorandum is our clear indication that we have the backing of our highest officer of the land and therefore it gives us encouragement to really work hard in ensuring that it will be a success," he said. "We would like to thank Hon. Jojo Pupos, our presidential assistant for Northern Mindanao. He was instrumental in presenting the Congress to Arroyo," added Vegafria.
