Near Fisticuffs at the City Council
IF the City Council session hall was too sanctified a place for a slugfest, one of the two councilors who figured in a near-brawl Monday said there was always an appropriate place to resume their aborted bout.
Broadcaster cum opposition Councilor Zaldy Ocon yesterday said he will not run away from a fight with Majority Floor Leader Edgar Cabanlas, as long as they hold it in another venue outside the session hall. "Dili nako siya sibugan basta sa gawas lang sa konseho," Ocon said in his "Koskos Batikos" program at dxCC-RMN where he is also the station manger.
The two councilors, in the midst of a fiery verbal exchange, nearly turned the legislative chamber into a boxing arena during the regular session Monday. The heated argument stemmed from Ocon's proposal to declare Mayor Vicente Emano "persona-non-grata" or unacceptable.
