Benaldo invites public to participate in fiesta activities

COUNCILOR Jose Benjamin Benaldo, chair of the 2006 City Fiesta Executive Committee, is inviting Kagay-anons and their guests to participate in and enjoy for themselves - the various activities lined up for this year's celebrations.

He said fiesta activities and programs started last week with the presentation of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2006 candidates to the press, the Lambagohan Festival, concerts of local artists and a dinner with orphans and inmates of the Tahanan ng Kabataan.
This week, more activities will spice up the celebration, he said.
The three-day Agro Fair-Pista sa Kaumahan kicks off today.
Various sports competition such as the 7th Mayor's Open Marathon, Philippine Boxing Federation Championship Fight, motocross competition, and mountain bike race, among others, are also lined up this week, Benaldo added.

Firsts

This year, the city will mount the First Cagayan de Oro Badminton Tournament, the Firsts Vicente Y. Emano Whitewater Rafting Competition, and the First Mr, CDO Body Building Competition, among others.

Artists

International balladeer David Pomeranz, Pilita Corrales, Jose Marie Chan, Angel Locsin and other Manila artists and other Manila artists are also among the city's guest performers.
Benaldo said the activities are all in line with the theme of the celebration, which will showcase Cagayan de Oro to the world.
