Miss CdeO 2006:
Miss CDO No. 6 wins Talent Night
Saturday, August 19, 2006
ACTING and a good voice make a good Broadway performance -- a knack that Miss Cagayan de Oro contestant Jeremy Cisneros proved she's worth by capturing the pageant's best in talent award.
Jeremy, a musically inclined lass of 18, performed Boublil and Schonberg's "On My Own" from "Les Miserables," a Broadway classic which helped propel Leah Salonga to "Miss Saigon" fame. She is contestant number 6, representing Barangay Camaman-an. And aptly so since "May-may" as she is fondly called by friends, wants to be a Broadway performer "and do some charitable work." A coed at Lourdes College, she won several singing and acting competitions.
"I thank God for giving me this talent and for allowing me to share this to others," she said as she received the P10,000 prize-money from SM management.
Other 14 pageant hopefuls displayed talents on painting, singing, dancing and acting, but Jeremy's rendition of the song most impressed judges, which include Vice Mayor Michelle Tagarda-Spiers, Department of Tourism-10 Regional Director Catalino Chan III and pageant chair Rhia Rita Abalos.
Held at SM atrium, the talent night is one of the pre-coronation highlights of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2006. The swimsuit competition will be held sometime this afternoon at Koresco hotel in Pueblo de Oro. Last week, 19-year-old Jedyl Jamaca grabbed the Darling of the Press award. Miss CdeO pageant is one of the main highlights of the city's annual fiesta. The coronation night will be held on August 24.
